The primary emphasis of training within the project is the constant on the job training of project staff by project leaders and visiting biologists. In addition, the project sponsors and organizes regional training courses and workshops for practitioners and policy-makers throughout the region. These international offerings bring together like-minded conservationists and have resulted in a number of collaborative ongoing projects.

In March 2006, the project center at Khao Nang Rum Wildlife Research station hosted a week-long workshop in tiger survey and monitoring techniques for Thai and Chinese participants. Through field activities, classroom instruction, and lots of time for sharing ideas and experiences, participants gained valuable knowledge and experience in practical techniques as well as building a network of professionals to draw on and collaborate with in their work.
